We are extremely pleased to announce that a second-year MFE@EPFL student, Di Chen, is the best trader this year!

After an exciting qualifying tour in Lausanne, six EPFL students (Agnes Antal, Gerardo Basterrechea, Di Chen, Andrew Sideris, Yan Wang and Yang Wang) were selected to the Swiss final round of trading competition which took place in Zurich on November 9. Within an hour, students from University of Zurich, Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, University of St. Gallen, University of Lausanne and EPFL compete for the trophy. Since one full trading day is simulated, this hour is extremely intense. Each trader has three assets as financial tools to form the portfolio. In this virtual dealing room, the system provides also trading implements such as an access to news, phone lines and graphs of dynamics of markets. Throughout this trading competition, participants have the opportunity to gain a practical experience and could also discover an example of traders real working day. At the end of this virtual day and after various ups and downs, Di Chen’s portfolio obtains the best results. Thanks to this selection, Di is invited to stand for Switzerland in the final world round of Traders Trophy Worldwide in March 2013 in the Netherlands or in the USA.
The three first places of this trophy are held by students from Lausanne, Sultan Bilal from HEC- UNIL and Wang Yang from MFE@EPFL have taken respectively the second and the third position. We are impressed by our students and we wish all the best to Di for the next step of this trophy!
