EPFL sends a water analysis lab on a race around the world on board Bernard Stamm’s boat, the “Cheminées-Poujoulat.” Starting on November 10, she will be competing in the Vendée Globe 2012.

Can a sailing boat designed for the roughest seas be used for scientific research? The ship’s architect, Betrand Cardis, and her skipper, Bernard Stamm, have been joined by the engineer who set up the mini-lab on board, Cédric Droguet, to debate the question.

For those who wish to dig into the subject, EPFL library prepared a selection of references. See
