Encouraging girls to engage in ICT fields

Sierre/Siders: the courses co-organized by HES-SO Valais-Wallis and EPFL are very successful.
The Certificate ceremony of the Internet & Code für Mädchen / Internet & Code pour les filles courses in Sierre took place on Saturday January 14th 2017, in presence of Mrs Luciana Vaccaro, Rector of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland and Mrs Farnaz Moser, Director of the EPFL Science Outreach Department. 72, 9 to 12 years old girls received their certificate in presence of their parents. During 11 weeks, these girls attended the course with great enthusiasm. Each participant created her own website and realized projects by using a graphic programming language during the course.
The workshops Internet & Code for girls which are developed by EPFL could take place in Sierre/Siders thanks to the close collaboration between EPFL and HES-SO Valais-Wallis and the financial support of the private company Novelis, the Office cantonal de l’égalité et de la famille and the Hasler Foundation.
