Two EPFL teams have ranked 4th and 8th at the 2015 Data Mining Competition.

The DMC competition takes place each year and attracts student teams from educational institutions in 20 countries. It is sponsored by Prudsys AG, a leading data mining company, who aims “to enthuse domestic and international students for intelligent data analysis (data mining) and challenge them to find the best solution to a data mining problem in competition with others.”

Two teams participated from EPFL, placing in the 4th and 8th positions – a significant achievement considering the fierce competition. The top ten teams were invited to Berlin for the awards ceremony, which took place during Prudsys’s personalization summit, “the leading event for news and trends in dynamic omni-channel personalization for retail, students have the chance to exchange ideas with industry experts.” The event is an ideal networking forum, leading to many internship and job opportunities for the students.
