The 31st International PLEA Conference held in Bologna (Italy) on September 9th to 11th, 2015 gathered over 350 researchers and professionals from 40 countries in the field of passive and low-energy architecture. The LIPID Lab was represented by PhD students Emilie Nault, Giuseppe Peronato and Parag Rastogi, who presented two papers based on their ongoing research.

PLEA is a world-wide network of researchers and professionals engaged in the promotion of sustainability in architectural and urban design. Since 1982, it has organized several international conferences and other events around the world. This 31st edition of the international conference entitled “Architecture in (R)Evolution” was organized by Building Green Futures, a non-profit organization led by the Italian architect Mario Cucinella.
The PhD students from LIPID participated in the parallel session on “knowledge transfer”, presenting their research directed by Prof. Marilyne Andersen and Prof. Emmanuel Rey on the use of energy performance indicators at the urban scale addressed to designers and decision-makers (PhD projects).
In particular, Giuseppe Peronato presented a paper on the assessment of the potential for building-integrated photovoltaics in urban environments. Emilie Nault and Parag Rastogi presented a joint paper which combines their individual research to investigate the variation, due to climate, of the influence of different urban forms on the neighborhood-scale energy balance.
