The 32nd international PLEA (Passive and Low Energy Architecture) conference, held in Los Angeles from July 11 to 13 2016, reunited researchers and professionals in the field of sustainable architecture. LIPID was represented by Luisa Pastore, Emilie Nault, Parag Rastogi and Giuseppe Peronato, who each presented a paper based on their research.

PLEA is a group of international researchers and experts committed to the promotion of sustainability in architecture and urban design. Since 1982, PLEA has organised many conferences in different regions of the world. Entitled « Cities, Buildings, People: Towards Regenerative Environments », the 2016 edition was organised by Cal Poly Pomona, the University of Southern California and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

The presentations given by researchers from LIPID were about : a case study demonstrating the effect of contemporary urban planning on bioclimatic features of historical buildings (Luisa Pastore) ; an article describing a method developed to evaluate the solar potential of a neighborhood design (Emilie Nault) ; a study exploring building design decisions with respect to long-term weather variability (Parag Rastogi) ; an article comparing the solar exposure level of buildings modeled at different levels of detail (Giuseppe Peronato).
