Unleashing the creative power of graphic designer through 2D stroke analysis with the CTI WALT project

The WALT project is a collaboration between EPFL-IC-IIG and the Moka Studio startup to leverage on 2D graphic designer skills for progressively elaborating complex 3D poses for any type of 3D articulated characters. The new software tool relies on a careful analysis of each individual 2D strokes on the graphic tablet. The resulting features are then exploited to infer the 3D pose most likely corresponding to the designers intentions. Special care is given for the viewpoint control to make the iterative posture adjustments as intuitive as possible. A first milestone of the potential of this new tool is demonstrated with the video link.
