New arrivals at the LMS
The Laboratory of Soil Mechanics welcomed 4 new colleagues in order to strenghten its expertise in several research areas.
Here are their story and objectives within the staff:
Dr. Sergio Samat: He studied in Argentina before getting a Master and a PhD at the UPC in Barcelone. He joins the team as Post-Doc and will take in charge the following activities:
- Finite Element Modelling of Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Problems in Geomechanics
- Nonlinear Constitutive Modelling of Poro-Materials
- Mathematical and Numerical Optimization
Dr. Samila Bandara: She joins the LMS after getting her PhD at the University of Cambridge. As a Post Doc, she will work on the TRAMM II project (landslides analysis) and will be asked to develop new numerical simulation tools (finite elements with large displacements).
Dr. Roman Makhnenko: After getting a PhD at the University of Minnesota, he joins the LMS for a Post-Doc as well. He will be in charge of experimental activities in the field of CO2 storage.
Timur Gökok: After obtaining his Civil Engineering Master at the EPFL, he will devote his research to our CO2 Projects.
All the staff would like to wish them a pleasant welcome and full success within their respective fields of research.
