New member of the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation

Prof. Dominique Foray has been nominated to serve the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation (EFI) to provide scientific advice to the German Federal Government.

As of May 1st, Prof. Foray will replace his colleague Prof. Patrick Llerena as a new member of the EFI commision. Prof. Foray will bring his expertise on Innovation and on the Knowledge economy, as well as his researcher's knowledge on the German research and innovation system from a european point of view.

Being part of the expert groupe of the EU commission "Knowledge for Growth", Prof. Foray knows the european context well. In that capacity, he was also involved in the creation and further development of the concept of Smart Specialisation, which now plays a central role in the planning of innovation strategies for a sustainable regional development.

The members of the commission will provide scientific advice to the German Federal Government and will also periodically deliver reports on research, innovation and technological productivity in Germany. A key task is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the German innovation system in an international comparison.
