New Research Grant for Ralf Seifert & Philipp Moser

Professor Ralf Seifert has been awarded a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) research grant for his project entitled “Supply Chain Management in Process Industries: An Empirical Investigation”.

Process industries have thrived in past decades, but recent structural changes in these markets are putting growth and profitability at risk. In this context, supply chain management is increasingly considered as an essential business driver and lever to create a sustainable competitive advantage and protect profit margins. Despite the consensus that supply chain management can and shall be improved, many firms struggle to implement best-practices due to industry specific constraints and a different set of market dynamics. In order to give new insights on the relationship between industry-specific characteristics and supply chain management practices in process industries, we empirically investigate how process industries’ most fundamental characteristics influence their supply chain performance and their strategic choices.
