"Peter Tentscher finds surprisingly strong interactions between radical molecules and water"

In an article just published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, Peter R. Tentscher reports on the nature of the attractive interactions between small radical molecules and water or hydrogen fluoride. This work sheds light on the fascinating origins of the forces between radicals and polar solvents, phenomena that have received relatively little study. This gives us more insight into the processes governing the transient and (often) difficult-to-measure condensed phase properties of radicals such as their solubilities and reactivities.
