The General Assembly of the EUROfusion Consortium appointed Prof. Ambrogio Fasoli as one of the three European members of the Coordinating Committee of the International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA) framework.

Prof. Ambrogio Fasoli will join Tony Donné, EUROfusion Programme manager, and Xavier Litaudon, Head of EUROfusion’s ITER Physics Department, and representatives from all other ITER partners in the Coordinating Committee of the International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA) framework.

The International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA)* provides a framework for internationally coordinated fusion research activities. The ITPA continues the tokamak physics R&D activities that have been conducted on an international level for many years. This has resulted in the achievement of a broad physics basis essential for the ITER design and useful for all fusion programs and for progress toward fusion energy generally.

The role of the ITPA Coordinating Committee is to oversee the Topical Physics Groups in conducting their tasks and to interface the ITPA with the ITER Organization (IO).
