SIA Vaud Award for Jan Gorecki, EPFL MSc in Architecture

Congratulations to Jan Gorecki who obtained the SIA Vaud 2015 Master in Architecture Award for his project on prefabricated concrete building elements and a new energy savings strategy in the context of the eco-district « Métamorphose » in the Lausanne area.
Within the masterplan of the "Métamorphose" ecodistrict at Plaines-du-Loup in Lausanne, Jan Gorecky proposed two buildings with sustainability as the guiding principle. The developed constructive system includes a choice of materials and an open plan typology that fully meet the objectives of a stringent energy standard. While the contemporary architecture fits into the urban setting, the buildings also fulfil the high requirements defined for this eco-district currently under development.
Jan Gorecki's work was supervised by Prof. Jean-Louis Scartezzini, Prof. Martin Fröhlich, Arch. Sebastian Lippok and Dr Manuel Bauer from the company Estia SA.
