This new book provides empirical evidence on diaspora interventions and return migration in the Indian context and suggests policy options for the home and host countries.

The edited volume is a result of a major research project which CODEV implemented recently in collaboration with the International Labour Office (ILO), the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (IDSK) and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and which was funded by the Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS).

This volume offers new empirical evidence on Indian skilled migrants living in European countries, which have become important destinations in the global competition for talent, and on returnees in India. Making use of an interdisciplinary and multi-level analytical framework, which simultaneously includes diaspora interventions and return migration as its main channels of participation, the studies included in this volume offer original insights into the dynamics of skilled migration from India and its effects. The studies highlight the determining factors required to channel possible contributions towards broad-based development and they suggest policy options for the home and host countries.
