Prof. de Rassenfosse has delivered a presentation on innovation policy aimed at a general audience on May 13th at the SwissTech Convention Center on the EPFL campus. The Lausanne Technology and Innovation Convention (STIL) is a student-led initiative that aims at providing a playful way for visitors to discover novel technologies developed in the region.

Prof. de Rassenfosse explained the rationales of innovation policy and the various ways in which government can help spur innovation. The presentation was delivered in an unusual way, relying solely on cartoons to attract people’s interest in such a technical topic. The audience included scientists, entrepreneurs, engineering students and technology enthusiasts. Participation to this conference is part of the IIPP chair’s mission of engaging with society at large.

The other keynote speaker was Beatrice Ferrari, Scientific advisor at the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). She provided an overview of the ‘bottom-up’ Swiss innovation policy.
