Lecture at the Ecole des Ponts ParisTech

Prof. Emmanuel Rey of the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) was invited on February 10 to give a lecture within the framework of the Specialized Master "Real Estate, Building, Energy" organized by the Ecole des Ponts (ENPC) in partnership with the Scientific and Technical Centre for Building (CSTB). His talk dealt with the strategies favoring the sustainable urban regeneration of disused railway areas.

The Specialized Master in "Real Estate, Building, Energy" aims at a global approach of construction, rehabilitation and management of buildings, which should facilitate the relationship between all the actors by providing a common culture, whether they be financial partners, building owners, urban designers, architects, builders, industrialists, managers or users. The ambition of this course is to help those involved in real estate and building processes to work together and to really achieve high energetic performances with controlled costs and good social acceptability.

Prof. Rey was invited to lecture in the module "From neighborhood to sustainable city" which deals more specifically with an analysis of urban projects realized at neighborhood scale and aiming to improve the sustainability of the cities. The different invited lectures underline more particularly the complexity inherent to this type of approach, the notion of managing principles, the implication of role-players, the specificities of partnerships between private and public sectors, as well as different forms of interdisciplinary collaboration.
