We are very pleased to announce and cordially invite you to our monthly EPFL Photonics Chapter (EPC) 'Pizza-optics-beer' (POB) seminar on March 4th, 2015 (Wednesday) at 18h (6pm). The seminar will take place in the room CM1100.
This month Daniel Infante, from the Optics and Photonics Technology Laboratory (EPFL in Neuchatel), will give us some insights in his field of expertise. His presentation is entitled: "Magic mirrors of the XXIst century".

Abstract:
A magic mirror is a precious and exclusive reflective object that was manufactured by skilled craftsmen in ancient China and Japan several thousand years ago. When illuminated by a bright spot of incoherent light, i.e. a beam of sunlight or of a flashlight, these mirrors are able to project an image –most of the time the same image as the one engraved or casted on their non-reflective surface- a feature that distinguished them from standard mirrors.
In this talk I will show how this concept can be adapted to the current fabrication technologies, light sources and applications, and also cover some of the inherent problems that light encounters in these cases.
