Contribution to the " Forum of territorial development"

To mark its 10th anniversary, the Federal Office for Spatial Development (ARE) invited a dozen experts, including Prof. Emmanuel Rey of the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST), to express their analysis and views on the built environment in a special edition of "Forum of territorial development".

The Federal Office for Spatial Development (ARE) seized the occasion of its tenth anniversary to take stock and consider the prospects of the built environment. In this context, a special edition of "Territorial Development Forum" aims to provide an overview of progress in land planning and drawing the main challenges ahead, notably that of having to reconcile the high pressure induced by growth and the rational use of land and resources.

This special edition offers the possibility to ten specialists from various scientific fields to comment on an aspect of territorial development. Speaking on the theme of sustainable neighborhoods, Prof. Emmanuel Rey points out in his contribution that the practices aiming for sustainability of the built environment benefit, on the scale of a neighborhood, from a particularly suitable framework for the initiation of new urbanities.
