Frontiers, an open-access publisher founded at EPFL’s Innovation Square, is featured on the cover of the prestigious magazine Nature.

Nature’s latest issue features its first ever fold-out cover to promote Frontiers. Created at EPFL, Frontiers publishes 33 open-access journals in science, engineering and medicine. The publisher aims to improve the way scientific research is disseminated, taking the bold step to enhance the peer-review process and make it more transparent. Frontiers and Nature recently announced a partnership to advance open-science in 2013.

Frontiers developed a web-based “Review Forum” that benefits from community-based technology to facilitate communication between reviewers and authors. Also, reviewers are disclosed on all accepted papers to reward them for their work and to increase transparency. Frontiers also innovates in article and author metrics, social networking and a growing ecosystem of open-science tools.

The issue also includes an interview with EPFL neuroscientist and Frontiers CEO Kamila Markram, and support from renowned scientists.
