On 6 March, Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) announced that as of October 2017, researchers submitting a request for project funding will have to supply a data management plan (DMP). A news that delights Martin Vetterli, convinced that a good management of our data will benefit science.

EPFL's mission is to produce and share research results of the highest quality possible. Those working with data need to pay particular attention to their data lifecycle. Shared as widely as possible within the scientific community, these data allow research to gain transparency, reproducibility and visibility. Their impact becomes even stronger. Martin Vetterli explained in a message sent to EPFL researchers that "one of my priorities is that we make EPFL an exemplary institution in this direction."

EPFL researchers benefit from numerous supports within the institution. They can rely on the EPFL Library to help them organize the management of their data and to develop a DMP for their projects, in close collaboration with the Research Office (ReO).
