Pristem SA makes headlines!

EssentialTech's spin-off company creates the buzz in international media.

Pristem SA, as well as its founder Bertrand Klaiber, are presented as part of the Impact Journalism day as well as in the TV program "10vor10" (see video in German). This initiative is a joint action of major international newspapers that highlight, on the same day, "inspiring and feasible solutions to concrete problems".

According to the World Health Organization, two-thirds of humanity does not have access to radiology, despite its importance for health care. This lack of access has dramatic consequences, for example, when one considers traffic accidents that cause 50 million victims a year. Radiology is a crucial tool to correctly diagnose trauma, but unfortunately 90% of these victims live in low- and middle-income countries where radiology is unavailable. Another crucial application concerns respiratory diseases, which alone account for 20% of the mortality of children under 5 years of age.

The company Pristem SA, was created to solve the problem of access to diagnostic radiology in the world. It aims to deploy GlobalDiagnostiX, a technology which was developed by a consortium of partners such as HES-SO, CHUV, Paul Scherrer Institute and the EssentialMed Foundation, under the leadership of the EssentialTech program of the Cooperation & Development Center (EPFL ).
