Professor Luisa Lambertini, Chair of International Finance at the College of Management of Technology (CDM), has been awarded a CHF 1’200’000 Sinergia Grant by the Swiss National Science Foundation together with research colleagues Prof. Philippe Bacchetta (University of Lausanne) and Prof. Cédric Tille (Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva).

The main goal of the 3-year-project entitled “The Macroeconomics of Financial Crises” is to understand the macroeconomic dimension of the recent financial crisis and to introduce financial realities into macroeconomic models. It entails research on the macroeconomic implications of mortgage lending and default, the macroeconomic impact of market liquidity, the implications for international capital flows and the international financial system.

Sinergia is a competitive program open to all disciplines. It provides funding to collaborative research projects in promising new areas and involving at least three research groups.
